The one thing you need to know about winning

There’s a lot of great advice out there about business. Even poor business folks have some gems of advice, which is why you should try to learn anything you can from anyone around you.

There’s also a lot of great advice about winning. I don’t find that most of it is helpful because so much of winning is contextual. What works for one person doesn’t always work for another.

But there is one thing you need to know about winning that applies regardless of where you find yourself.

It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about winning a business deal, or beating your competition.

And it’s so simple that this post will end in just 113 words.

But before I tell you it, let me show you this video (that inspired this post).

You have to stay in the game to win. At minimum, play to survive. Because this truth is the one that we most often miss.

Most of the time, winning is a function of lasting.

So play slowly when you need to. Don’t always rush the net. Sometimes play carefully. Take risks. But in the end, stay in the game.

Because you can’t win if you’re not in the game.

So when you get tired, or feel like the odds are against you, don’t quit.

Because more often than not, winning is a function of lasting.
