Hide menu items on your WordPress membership site

Want to hide menu items?

A lot of times, when you’re building a membership site, you set up your navigation regardless of your membership offerings. You do this because every link in your menu routes people back to your signup page.

This is a natural consequence of having pages that are protected in your main menu. Most membership plugins will offer you a way to reroute non-logged in users to a special page.

But what if you want to simply hide menu items instead?

Well, you can. By role.

Take a look:

You can click “By Role” and then determine which roles should see the menu item. It’s really that simple.

The plugin that does it all

There’s a simple plugin that does all the work for you. It’s called Nav Menu Roles.

I’m sure there are other ways to do this. And you can always write code to do this. But for the folks who don’t write code, it really doesn’t get any easier than this.

Note: this doesn’t actually do any content protection.

So you still need to pick a membership plugin to do that. But this can leverage those roles to show or hide menu items.

So check it out and let me know what you think.

Your membership site will thank you for it.
